Just like you have more than one pair of shoes, you need more than one pair of glasses.  Sunglasses protect your eyes from UV radiation and reduce your risk of cataracts and macular degeneration.  Safety glasses protect your eyes from sports and occupational injuries.  Many patients benefit from having separate glasses for computer activities as well as different styles for everyday wear and evening wear. Lenses made with Crizal reduce annoying glare and ghost images, and has unsurpassed clarity and cleanability. This material may make your lenses virtually scratch-proof.  These are all options our doctors and opticians can help you consider.

Lenses/Lens Products

Plastic Lenses
are the most prescribed lenses today.  They are lighter than glass and are available in every prescription.

Polycarbonate Lenses
are impact-resistant, more durable, and lighter than plastic lenses.  This material is ideal for patients who are participating in sports or who have a more active lifestyle.

Progressive Lenses
or no-line bifocals have become the choice for patients who have presbyopia which is the inability to focus at near clearly. This type of lens offer patients a smooth transition between distance, intermediate, and near vision which allows you to have the most natural type of vision.

High Index Lenses
are a great choice for patients that require stronger prescriptions which increase the weight and thickness of their eyeglasses.  High Index materials are designed to make the lenses much thinner, lighter, and more comfortable.

Transitions or Photochromic lenses
change from light to dark as you go outdoors. Clear, dark, or in between transition lenses adjust automatically to changing light.  These lenses can help protect your eyes like sunblock protects your skin.  They block 100% of the sun’s harmful UVA & UVB rays.

Polarized sunwear lenses
can elimate glare from reflected light. Regular sunglasses only reduce light transmissions.  Only polarized lenses can eliminate harsh, blinding glare from reflected light. Patients who enjoy spending time on or near the water can benefit greatly from the features of polarized lenses.

Poor visibility due to sun glare is the suspected cause of many motor vehicle accidents”.
